Rayon Fabric is becoming the new designer’s choice in every fashion industry day by day. The fabric is also called viscous fabric due to its attributes of being extremely soft and thick. There is a great debate over either the fabric is natural or synthetic. It is basically made from wood pulp but the process is of course, man-made. The process from which it is made is also not very environment-friendly. That is why many people oppose it, however, the texture is so attractive that it has made a place in the world of fashion.

Along with other benefits, rayon fabric has two things that are a fashions powerhouse. One is that it drapes gorgeously. It is considered to be one of the most suitable fabrics to design the dresses with heavy drapery.


The second thing which is the best advantage of Rayon fabric is that it is easy to dye. Because its material is highly absorbent, it dyes extremely well. The brightness of the color upon this fabric is literally to ‘die for’. Its absorption quality makes the fabric more convenient for multiple dyes.

· Unhealthy for the environment

As much as people love the rayon fabric and its feel, it is highly harmful to the environment. Rayon fabric is made of wood pulp which is synthesized through a process that undergoes and releases a lot of pollution. Plus the amount of trees that are needed to be cut is another problem for the environment.


· Non-Stretchable and deforms easily

Another thing which goes against the rayon fabric is that it deforms upon stretching very easily. It is mostly not recommended for any kind of furniture lining because that involves a lot of stretching. Also, it makes clothes washing difficult as well.
